VISITOR GUIDELINES

Thriftwood School & College are asking for the support and understanding of everyone in order to help minimise the risk of COVID-19.

Thriftwood continues to take guidance from Public Health England.

We apologise for not being able to give you our usual warm welcome, but we must take the current situation very seriously and look after the welfare of our pupils and staff. With that in mind, we are following the guidelines and will only be accepting external visitors who provide a professional service for our young people (e.g. social workers and healthcare professionals). Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to offer prospective parental visits. However, please visit the virtual tours on the school and college sites respectively.

If you have any questions, please contact us via email to: - admin@thriftwoodschool.com or admin@thriftwoodcollege.com

Admission Criteria:

Thriftwood College provides education for students aged 14-19, all of whom have a Statement of Educational Needs or an Education Health and Care Plan.

We fully understand that making the right choice of college is very important for the young person and for the family.

We therefore recommend that you:

  • Contact the college to register your interest and book an appointment for the next available open morning.
  • Attend an open session, gain information and ask any questions that you may have.
  • Reflect on what you have seen and heard.
  • Inform the SAS (Statutory Assessment Service) of your preference - this will initiate the placement process.

It is the local authority who has responsibility for the admissions to Thriftwood College.

The main criteria for a placement at Thriftwood College are as follows:

  • Students must have a Statement of Educational Needs or an Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Students must have Moderate Learning Difficulties plus additional complex needs
  • Priority is given to young people in the local catchment area and children looked after

To request advice on the admission process please telephone our Admin Team on 01245 262779.
